Many children never see their first birthday because of congenital heart disease (a defect in the heart from birth). It is the most common type of birth defect worldwide, with an incidence of 3.5 per 1000 in Nigeria. However this is grossly under reported as many of the children die before diagnosis can be made. Approximately more than 25% of these children would need heart surgery or some form of intervention to survive.
Most parents are often unable to save the lives of their children, with no recourse to funds and the high cost of treating congenital heart disease in Nigeria.
Cardiac Health Initiative partners with medical teams to provide free pediatric cardiac surgeries and medical resources to children without access to them. We ask your support to help provide hope and life for children with heart disease. If you share our passion for saving hearts, we encourage you to join us as a donor. Together, we can save thousands of lives.
